BA (Hons) Applied Theology Leadership

Graduate Diploma Applied Theology

The BA programmes will:

  • equip you for Christian life and ministry

  • challenge you to reflect on your attitudes

  • develop your analytical thinking and reflection skills

  • enable you to engage more deeply with the Bible

  • explore the Bible and theology in-depth and breadth

  • transform you – head, heart and hands

The BA courses are a unique opportunity to focus on things that matter.

Admissions Criteria

All candidates will demonstrate:

  • active engagement in some form of Christian ministry,

  • appreciation of and respect for IBI’s ethos,

  • an ability to study at third level.

Entry routes to the BA programme

Academic entry: Irish Leaving Certificate: 240 points or equivalent

AP(E)L: You may apply for entry to the programme, or for credit transfer, on the basis of Accredited Prior Learning (APL) or Accredited Prior Experiential Learning (APEL).

Associate status entry: you will be required to demonstrate that you are able to work at BA level by successfully completing a semester as an associate student. Upon successfully completing and passing the modules in the first semester you can enrol for the full BA programme and transfer credits gained.

International students:

1. Non-EU/EEA/United Kingdom citizens/residents.

Due to Irish Immigration regulations, IBI is not permitted to accept applications from those who require a student visa to study in Ireland.

2. EU/EEA/United Kingdom citizens/residents.

Non-native speakers of English must have an IELTS certificate or equivalent with a minimum score of 6.0. You will also be required to demonstrate the equivalence of any qualifications to Irish/UK standards.

Bursaries: IBI has a small bursary fund for students who are serving the Irish Church and have financial needs. Please contact our Bursar for more information.

All classes are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the expectation that students will give an additional 10 – 25 hours per week to personal study depending on whether they are on a full-time or part-time programme.

Diploma/Degree level modules.

In the first year of the full-time BA programmes, or the first two years of the part-time BA programmes, the student will cover the modules detailed on our Certificate page.

Progressing through the programme a student will have the opportunity to study:

  • Christology

  • The Holy Spirit and the Christian Life

  • New Testament Epistles

  • Issues in Contemporary Theology

  • Faith in Contemporary Culture

  • Ethics

  • Developing Pastoral Care

  • Teaching and Preaching the New Testament

  • Church and Ministry

Dates for your diary

Our undergraduate semesters run from early September to mid-December, and mid-January to mid-May.

Fees 2024/25

  1. Full-time BA - (3 years) €4,500 per year

  2. Part-time BA - (6 years) €2,300  per year
