Brendan Healy (MA)

Brendan Healy is a retired Lieutenant Colonel who served in the Irish Defence Forces for nearly 40 years. After retiring , he did a Masters in Christian Missional Leadership. He now serves in his local church in Mullingar. Brendan teaches modules in communication and leadership.

Why are you passionate about communication?

Not everyone is called to preach but I believe everyone is called to communicate the good news of Jesus. The module is designed in such a way that it encourages and enables students to communicate effectively in whatever ministry context they find themselves in. Jesus was a magnificent communicator and has lots to teach us. Everyone can become a better communicator if they are willing to practice and learn the principles and theory of communication.

How does communication shape people?

This course has affected me in my own communicating, in that I see Jesus, more and more, as a tremendous communicator. Instead of just communicating about Jesus I now want to communicate like Him. Communication is not just about the words that come out of our mouths but who we are, who called us, how we connect and what we are becoming.

Brendan Healy talks about his course in Communicating the Bible.
