Short course: Leading and Caring in Small Groups

Two of the most important functions of a small group are engaging with the Bible and praying and caring for one another.

This short course will examine both of these.

  • Learning from the Bible in a small group context (or in any other context). How do we engage with the Bible to get the most from it? How can we be sure we are hearing the voice of God, and not just what we want to hear? It is vital to engage with the Bible responsibly in a small group.

Engaging with the Bible is a spiritual skill and something that we can develop. We will consider how to prepare and lead Bible studies that help people learn from God as they interact with the Bible and each other.

  • Caring as part of a small group, including aims and motives of small group care (and how it is part of a wider church strategy), understanding the strengths of small group care, being aware of the limits of care in a small group.
