Staff news

I’m Anna Byrne and I joined the staff team in August 2018 as a part-time administrator.
This was a real answer to prayer as I was in the process of moving house and was looking for part-time work.
Working in IBI is a real joy and privilege and I love the interaction there is with IBI students, I’m also very thankful that when I’m not working I have been afforded the opportunity to study God’s word, so currently I’m doing one module each semester. I was also delighted that the first module I did on ‘The Story of the Church’ was given by John Woodside as John had been the minister of Kilkenny Presbyterian Church when I moved there.
My career to date has been quite varied, I started off in the hospitability sector, then took up a position as an Energy Advisor with the ESB, based in Sligo and prior to starting with IBI I worked with Carlow County Council, working mainly with Community & Voluntary Groups and Business start-ups.
In my spare time I like to read, go walking or play the odd game of tennis, also as I come from a large family, there are always plenty of enjoyable family events to attend.

Dr Patrick Mitchel has been appointed as our new Director of Learning. As well as ongoing teaching, he will be responsible for the overall running of the BA and MA academic programmes.
Patrick says, “I am delighted to take on this role and look forward to the challenge. Administration needs to be done, but the heart of this role, and what we do here at IBI, is working with people (both staff and students) who are passionate to follow Jesus, learn about God’s word and are putting that learning into practice in the world.
It is a privilege and a joy to be part of what God is doing here in and through the lives of those students.”

We are delighted to announce that Paul Perry has agreed to join the IBI staff team for the next academic year. Paul is from Dublin and brings with him a wide breadth of pastoral and leadership experience in church-based ministry in an Irish context which will complement and enhance the IBI teaching team. Paul is an IBI MA graduate and has been an associate teacher on the BA programme since it began in 2006. He has a great track record with IBI and with our students and we look forward to having him as part of the team.
Paul has been a pastor and leader with Cornerstone Church (now at The Well in Bray) for almost 25 years. He has taught in Greenhills College in South Dublin for the past two years on a range of courses and has embarked on a doctorate in education. Paul is married to Caroline and they have one daughter.
Paul says, “For over 30 years, I have carried a passion to see God’s mission and His people in Ireland inspired and thriving in their God given call. Consequently, I am so excited to serve in IBI and have the opportunity to support, equip and encourage students to grow, impact their world and make a real difffernce with their lives.”

Announcement of New Principal

The Board is pleased to announce that Steven Singleton has been appointed as the new Principal of IBI.  Steven will succeed Jacob Reynolds who has led IBI over the last 21 years.  Steven will assume the role of Principal from 1 April 2018.

Steven holds a BA in Theology and an MA in Biblical Interpretation from London Bible College.  He was pastor of Thurles Baptist Church, Co. Tipperary, for 12 years prior to becoming IBI’s MA Programme Director in 2003 and has been IBI’s Director of Learning since 2015.  As Director of Learning, Steven successfully led the IBI team through the process of academic validation with York St. John University.  Steven is fully committed to IBI’s mission of serving the Irish Church through excellence in biblical education and leadership development.

Jacob says, “I am very pleased that the Board have appointed Steven to succeed me as Principal.  I have worked with Steven for over 15 years and believe he has the right skills and attitudes to effectively serve God and the Church in this role at this time.”

The Board and staff of IBI will be praying for every success for Steven as he takes on the responsibilities of his new role and leads IBI into the next phase of its development.
