Pray with us

“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.”

(Psalm 62:5-6 NLT)

As I try to put down in words the heartfelt gratitude we in IBI feel towards you our friends and supporters, I find myself lacking.  Through our recent special appeal, God has provided for us in ways we didn’t anticipate and we can only lift our hands and our hearts in praise of him.  Your generosity has meant that we have reached beyond our goal to make up the deficit in our budget and puts us on a firm financial platform going in to our new financial year.  We have thanked you individually through emails and letters but let me once again thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your response from the smallest gift to the largest – thank you for listening to the Lord’s prompting and responding so generously.

Going forward, we are very close to signing a lease for our rental unit on the first floor of Ulysses House.  Heads of Terms were signed some time back but there have been a few issues that have held up the process.  However, all seems to be on track now for new tenants to occupy the unit from September.  Again, whilst it was disappointing that we had not secured tenants sooner, we praise God for his provision now and look forward to a healthy relationship with our new tenants in the years to come.

As we continue to praise God for his faithfulness, the following items might help you as you join with us in prayer for the ongoing life of IBI.

  • We have a number of students already signed up for this coming academic year, please pray that more will apply in the next few weeks and that we will have a healthy intake for September.
  • Please pray for those continuing with both the BA and the MA programmes.  Pray that not only will they increase their knowledge but that the Lord will speak to them through what they are learning and strengthen them in their inmost being so that they will be equipped to serve the church wherever he leads them.
  • We thank God for our volunteer Librarian, Anne McDonald, who will finish with us at the end of this month.  Please pray that we will find someone to replace her – someone with a love of books that would enjoy serving God through this vital volunteer position.  See notice below.
  • Finally, please pray for both students and staff as we look towards a new year.  Pray that those coming for the first time will integrate well with the IBI community and that everyone coming through our door will sense the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Our next Online course is open for registration.

The Story of the Bible
One of the most remarkable things about the Bible is that, while it is made up of 66 books written by numerous authors in different language over centuries, it nevertheless takes the form of one great overarching narrative or story. If the main plot-line is the redemptive work of God for all creation, within it are many other sub-plots. The focus of biblical theology is to identify, understand and reflect on the significance of that ‘big story’ and how the sub-plots fit within it. Read more…
